Three brothers by the names of Brian, Dennis, and Carl Wilson started a band. This phenomenom started when they met their cousin Michael Edward Love and his friend Al Jardine.  Collectively they created a band called The Pendeltons.  On December 8, 1961 they released the single “Surfin.”  Currently they are signed with the company Candix Records.  They boys heard their song on the radio for the first time and decided that they would change the bands name to The Beach Boys.  Prior to the song “Surfin,” the boys would write and sing songs about romance and surfing.  They climbed the ladder of success, while going on tour and having a fast paced lifestyle might sound fun, one member of the band couldn’t handle it.   This member was Brian Wilson.  Brian Wilson was what is known as a triple threat times two.  The played the roles of producing, writing, arranging, singing, planning and teaching.  Eventually, Brian stopped touring and decided he wanted to work in the studio.
On the morning of February 15, the group had a scheduled photo session at the San Diego Zoo.  The photo session was for the album cover.  The album, needed a name, so the band as a whole decided to name is Petsounds.  The reasoning behind this is because there were animal sounds on the record.  Brian however, felt that they didn’t need to change the formula.  Brian said the reason they recorded pet sounds was because they specialized in certain sounds.
In my opinion, the characteristics that blew me out of the water were the arrangements and instrumentation that was throughout the album.  The dynamic choice of instruments chosen came from knowledge and knowing what sounds would fit with the band.  I feel that no other band came close in the arrangement with the songs.  The arrangement of the instruments is what gave the album it’s rhythm and feel.   I believe that the Beach Boys have a very unique sound.  In the twenty first century, we are still listening to this iconic music and will continue to do so for centuries to come.   The music that they have created is used on televisions, shows, major motion pictures, and are still played on the radio.  Though they have been through a vast amount of success and struggle, their music will stand as an icon in the music industry now and in the future.
